Ewa Maslowska, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Charles H. Sandage Department of Advertising at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, with affiliate appointments in the Institute of Communications Research, Informatics, and the Center for Social & Behavioral Science. She holds a Ph.D. in Communication Science from the University of Amsterdam and an M.A. in Psychology from Jagiellonian University and completed postdoctoral research at the Spiegel Research Center at Northwestern University. Ewa specializes in personalized persuasive communication. Her research examines how individuals engage with digital platforms, focusing on the persuasive effects of technologies such as recommendation algorithms, platform design features, and AI-driven content delivery. Her recent work explores the psychological dimensions of human-AI interaction, particularly the formation of relationships with conversational agents and the implications of empathy outsourcing.
